Study Finds 70% of CBD Mislabeled
In late 2017 Johns Hopkins University released a study on the quality of CBD oil. The study analyzed 84 CBD oil products sold by 31 companies and found that 70% of CBD oil products sold online were mislabeled.
Of the 84 CBD oil products only 30% of the products contained the proper CBD concentration labeled by the manufacturer, within a 10% margin of error.
Mislabeling is a huge concern in the CBD oil industry because of there is no standardized testing for CBD oil and there is no regulatory agency monitoring the quality of the products.
In addition, to mislabeling of the CBD concentration, there was also mislabeling of THC. The study found that in some cases, products contained THC even though the products were not labeled as such.
